Ontario Trillium Project sees exciting results.

In November 2019 the WIBC was awarded an Ontario Trillium Foundation capital grant for a challenging project aimed at creating safe and accessible docks and storage racks for the boat club. The many layers of the project involved countless hours of WIBC volunteer work, building of the docks and ramps and construction including dock piling and landscaping work. The new docks are adjustable and allow us to adapt to changing water levels. The WIBC is grateful to the OTF and everyone who was involved in seeing this project through. Thank you!

Our new rolling boat storage racks and accessible ramps were made by the students of the Manufacturing and Metalworking class at LaSalle Secondary School.

For all the work needed to be done to prepare the site we extend our gratitude and thanks to Hulton’s Construction for helping with the landscaping for the new accessible ramp and dock; Rick Wilson and his company for their work installing the new dock pilings; and AJ’s Excavating to help lift the old dock for repairs.

The results can now be seen on site as the new accessible ramp and floating dock have been delivered and are in the water at the Wolfe Island Boat Club making us ready for a spring launch into an exciting season of rowing and sailing. Safe access to the water is a welcome addition for our club and the community of Wolfe Island and we are all looking forward to many more seasons on the water at the WIBC.

2021 Opening

Hello WIBC community,

Another year is underway and we can’t wait to welcome you back for another incredible season!

This year we will be having our annual open house/opening date on June 26th from 9am-3pm, we can’t wait to meet with you (with your masks) and answer any questions you may have. This is also a perfect time to drop-off/signup for memberships, which can also be done online using our 2021 Membership form.

Last summer was a success – and this is our second year that follows several of the same protocols. Health and safety is of the utmost importance to WIBC, and as our local situation changes we will continue to implement the most up to date protocols as we return to outdoor recreation this summer!

In general, precautions for arrival on location are; arriving prepared, one group member gathering equipment, masked entry to the back of the boathouse, and an entrance and exit plan to avoid contact with other community members. Above all staff members will be on site to ensure materials are cleaned and organized for community use and as a touchpoint for any questions or concerns. The most important aspect of these changes is our signup account. As a member, you will receive an invitation to “Book your Boat” and can choose a time slot to book a boat from our fleet. For use on your phone, open Signup.com on your phone browser and follow the links to download to your mobile phone.

We have three fabulous staff that will be helping us ‘man the deck’ this year; Allison, Emily, and Caylin! With the support of grants from Ontario and Canada we are able to focus on new projects that will ensure our members and the community will have access to recreational boating for themselves and their families. They are wonderful and are always willing to connect and help out.

Additional exciting upgrades include working towards upgrading our fleet (currently we have 2 stand up paddleboards, 2 kayaks, 2 sailboats, and a canoe!), continual working on our docks and launching system, and a variety of ongoing projects that will be revealed soon. Another important aspect of the WIBC is our bookstore which will be getting a fresh look this season – including a schedule for book drop offs.

In the meantime you can complete the Wolfe Island Boat Club Membership Form. Save it and email to info@wolfeislandboatclub.ca. E-transfer your membership fees to info@wolfeislandboatclub.ca and stay informed and updated with our social media channels on Facebook, Instagram and our website.

Thank you to the community for supporting us last summer and into this year. Our memberships are more important than ever and we can’t wait to have you back for another year of sunshine.

Thank you again for your ongoing support,

WIBC
