Canada Day

Wolfe Island is named Kawehnóhkwes tsi kawè:note (translating as ‘Long Island Standing’) by the people who identify as Kanyen’kehà:ka (or Mohawks as they are commonly referred to outside their community).

This Canada Day seems to be momentous for reasons well beyond the number 150 but with encouragingly successful grassroot action let’s hope it is marked as a starting point for real change, from sea to sea to sea.

All are welcome to the Canada Day activities at the WIBC:

Rowing @ 9am

Dragon Boating @ 11:30am

Book Sale from 10am – on, Sat. & Sun.

We are grateful to share Canada Day on Wolfe Island/Kawehnóhkwes tsi kawè:note with our neighbours, friends, families, and visitors.  And thank you Wolfe Island Community Garden for opening the conversation!
